# Privacy

This is a personal website. It has no accounts, no forms and no newsletter sign-up, so it doesn't ask you for anything. Here's what does happen when you visit.

## Traffic statistics

The site uses Google Analytics, connected through Google's Site Kit plugin, to count visits: which pages get read, roughly where readers come from, and what kind of device they use. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to do this. I use the numbers to see what people find useful. I don't use them to identify you, and I don't sell or share them. Google's own handling of that data is described in [Google's privacy policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy). You can block these cookies in your browser, or opt out with [Google's opt-out add-on](https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), and the site works the same.

## Server logs

The site is hosted on Kinsta, behind Cloudflare. Like almost every web server, they keep short-lived technical logs (IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) to keep the site running, fast and protected from abuse. I don't use those logs to track individual readers.

If you email me or message me on LinkedIn, I'll see whatever you send, and I use it only to reply. Nothing you send is added to a mailing list.
